A month ago I was making my way through a few garage sales and came across the mother load.
You know the one...
People just tired of being out in the heat, desperate to get rid of their stuff, willing to part with it for practically nothing.
Oh yah.
I spied these two beauties sitting all by themselves.
I ended up getting them 2 for $5 (total score!)
I immediately called my sissy Marie over at Emma Calls Me Mama and asked her if she'd like one.
(what do you think she said?) Hee Hee.
Practically matching chairs...we are soooo sisters.
I painted mine red, then a solid coat of turquoise on top with a light sanding to let the red show through.

I might sew a little cushion for the seat too...but that's another post.

San Diego was everything I wanted it to be (and a little more!)
We had a great time at Sea World...

(Of course the Cameraman Hubster is not pictured)
My favorite moment was watching the Beluga Whales- they were awesome!

We got close enough to see this big guy (Mr. Shamu) but not close enough to get wet (thank you!)

And we ate at wonderful restaurants. We even treated the older boys to their very first Filet Mignons.
They were quite impressed. (we told them to remember the moment because it wouldn't be happening often!)

(Not quite sure why DB is posing like the Captain Morgan Guy)
I asked the guys what their favorite experience was during our trip and they all unanimously said...

Kayaking!!!

We even got Cousin Josh to go!

And Uncle Dan and Cousin Emma - look at her little angel smile...so adorable!

And The Hubster even convinced me to let AJ go too. Look how happy he is to be out with the crew!
We also spent a fabulous day at the beach, a TON of time at the pool, and even had a great time just hanging out in our hotel suite.
I loved our trip to San Diego and can't wait to plan another visit!

San Diego!!!

We are getting ready for a family trip to San Diego!
(Well I should really clarify by stating that I am getting us ready for the trip).
Everyone else will just hop merrily into the car at the last minute and everything will "magically" be ready to go. LOL.
We will be staying in a waterfront suite...we're going to the fabulous Sea World...and we're going to relax and swim the rest of the time. I can't wait!

For those that don't know me very well, let me tell you it is going to take me days and days to plan and pack.
I will make 10 different lists and organize and re-organize a few times before I'm satisfied with how everything is packed.
Therefore, I may not talk to you for awhile!

When I happened to stumble on Laura's website, I Am Along For The Ride, I was excited (and a little nervous) to read and take up the "90 Days of Kindness" challenge she was having. You can find the details here.
I felt this challenge spoke to me about 1 specific person in my life. Someone I see and interact with every.single.day. I don't even think I could divulge who this person is right now. It will be something revealed in time.
All I know is that I'm taking up the challenge. This may be the hardest (and most necessary) challenge I've ever attempted.
Laura says that kindness is...
Kindness is radical living.
It is going the distance with people
giving hope to someone who is difficult
having manners
not bringing up others wrongs
not keeping score
promoting others
putting others first
being patient when it's really really hard
forgiving others when it's even harder
Kindness is
patient
happy with what it has
humble
slow to anger
Kindness delights in truth
Kindness always trusts
hopes
survives
I encourage YOU to take up the challenge as well. We can all use a little (well a lot!) more kindness in this world!
All 90 Days of my posts will be here.

I found quite a bit at my 99 Cent Store this time (which isn't always the case) so I was happy with what I came up with.
I found these...

sort of pretty all by themselves but I had bigger plans in store...
And these...

these were actually 2 for 99 cents (woot!)
I also found these...

I ended up using this...

and painted & mod podged those flower covered trays up to look like this...

then I took those little glass votives and filled them with sand, hot glued jute around the outside rim, and hot glued a cute shell to the jute...

Aren't they cute?
I also took those little baskets and painted them with this...

I painted them with a protective coat of polyurethane as well and decided they would work well as a

fruit basket!

And a napkin holder!
(and those little votives look cute in front of the napkin basket too, don't they?)
I'm linking up with...

And...

And I am so excited about my giveaway! I am giving one lucky person a $5o gift card to either Target, Home Goods or Home Depot - they get to choose. The random generator picked...
#20!!!!!
Comment #20 from Katie who said...
