Looking Forward…

A few things I am REALLY

looking forward too...

1. Easter (because it is NOT at my house and because it IS at my darling sissy's house!)

2. Garage sales. The season is in full swing here in Southern California

3. Fixing up the Front and Back yard! This will be post-worthy if it comes to fruition. We have been mulling back and forth

about putting the money into some landscaping for the front and back yards. We are even going to buy new patio furniture. Woo hoo!

4. Mother's Day.

5. The Last Day of School. I am so over the driving schedule of having children in two different schools that start at two totally different times and one of the schools is across town. Over it. Really. When next school year comes around they will both attend the SAME school and it is RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER!  Of course there are many reasons I'm jazzed about the Last Day of School. No more whining about the homework (me mostly whining, not them). No more early mornings (until summer sports camps start up :))

6. Summer!!! Have I mentioned to you how much I ADORE summertime. It is my favorite time of year.

I wish it was summer here year round. I live in Southern California, so it's pretty darn close, but not quite.

I will be utilizing our summer hours to take the little guy to the beach, to the zoo, to the Ringling Brother's Circus and on some fun Nature Outings.

Our older boys are both going to be gearing up for their fall sports programs in high school so we will be supporting them in those which is equally fun (for us-not them!) We're hoping they will get a little time off from the summer camps to get away for a small family vacation.

I absolutely cannot wait!

What are you looking forward to?

XOXO

Busy Month Ahead…

Looking back at my last post on "Retreat Time" - gosh that was a month ago.

Where did the time go? I had such a blast at the retreat!

I came back from that thing totally rested and invigorated.

Of course, like I mentioned, that was a month ago, and now I'm pooped out again. Haha.

This month is filled with doctor's appointments. All types.

Neurologists

Endocrinologists

Pyschiatrists

General Practicioners

Dentists

Orthodontists.

I'm not quite sure how I happened to plan all of these appointments in ONE month but I did.
I suppose I'm trying to get  a lot off of my plate before

May rolls around and I'm trying to finish up the spring cleaning and I'm also going to plan all of our

summer activities.

(and let me tell you - this is going to be a FUN summer of activities!) I can't wait!!!

I'm going to be making a big, fat list of fun things we're going to attempt to

do this summer - some as a family, and some just for me and the little guy.

What all do you plan for your family during the summer months?

Do you try to get all of your medical/dental stuff done in one fell swoop?

XOXO

It’s Retreat Time!…

I can't believe it's that time of year again...

RETREAT TIME!

For three glorious days I get to go up to a cabin in the woods and relax.

We will enjoy our time up at the Pine Valley Bible Conference Center...

I get to spend time with my sister.

I will NOT have to cook.

Or clean.

Or watch a child.

It is going to be awesome!

To top it all off I will be rejuvenated with the Word of God!

What do you do to get away from it all?

XOXO

Worst Diet…EVER!

Well I just returned from the endocrinologists office.

My doctor was very upbeat and positive regarding my hyperthyroidism.

She seems to think I have a viral version of it which will hopefully fix itself within a year.

I think it's called Subacute Thyroiditis

The worst part about everything is the diet she has put me on (temporarily) until I have some

tests done.

DIET - I loathe that word. I'm not really a dieter by heart. I'm pretty good at portion control

so I've never really limited myself on WHAT I could eat.

Well this darned diet is so awful. It's supposed to limit my intake of Sodium - Iodine

No dairy

No Lunchmeat

No Cereal

No Regular Bread

No Seasoned meats

No eggs!!!

Well this pretty much omits EVERYTHING from my existing diet!

I am either going to die from hyperthyroidism (LOL) or from starvation!

I suppose if I want this test to turn out well, I will have to follow this ugly diet.

I'm off to Trader Joe's to try to find some foods I CAN eat.

Bland chicken, vegetables and fruits, and maybe some bread that tastes like cardboard!

Wish me luck.

XOXO

Going To The Doctors….Ugh

I highly dislike going to the doctor.

I'm a germaphobe and going there always gives me the heebie jeebies.

So even though I've been having strange symptoms and have worried myself

out of my head until I had worked up the worst disease in the world, I

put off going for as long as I could.

Anyhoo, yes, I've had the strangest sore throat for the last few weeks.

It's not typical - it doesn't hurt when I swallow but it sure hurts when I touch my neck!

It has become a little hard to swallow food too - scary sounding, huh? As if there is something

stuck in there, and it is seriously swollen! Not to mention some weird unexplained weight loss

and as I mentioned in my last post - anxiety!

Well I finally scared myself right into the doctor's office.

After an exam and multiple blood tests, they came back to me with this semi-diagnosis...

Hyperthyroidism

Anyone familiar?

Yah, I was clueless too. I didn't even know what a thyroid did until today!

Now I'm being referred to a endocrinologist to help me get this all figured out.

Until then, I am going to rely on God's promises and be at peace knowing that

He will carry me through what ever this is.

XOXO

Anxiety…

Do any of you suffer from anxiety?

For me it's such a dirty word.

It conjures up a lot of ugly feelings inside me when I think of it -

WORRY

CHAOS

LACK OF CONTROL!!!

Well lately (haha lets just say it has been WORSE lately) I have been really suffering from anxiety.

In fact, we can just say these have escalated into full-blown panic attacks...and it has not been pretty.

I have tried several things to circumvent this from happening...

prayer

deep breathing

self-help books

even prescription medication (gasp!)

While I've found that all of these things are helping in part, I'm trying to work

through WHY I am going through this in the first place and how I can release myself from it COMPLETELY!

So for now I will continue to pray, breath, read my books, and take my medication.

I will rely on God's word and KNOW that He is in control...and I don't always have to be...

XOXO
